Davao drains clog for boring reasons: cooking oil poured into the kitchen sink that sets like candle wax in the pipe, hair and soap in the shower, wet wipes and sanitary products in the toilet, and — in older houses — tree roots and collapsed clay pipes on the way to the septic tank. What you can check before calling
Five minutes with these can save a call-out, or tell us exactly what to bring:
One fixture or several?. A single slow sink is a local clog in the trap or branch. If the toilet gurgles when the shower drains, or two fixtures back up together, the blockage is further down the line — a bigger job, and worth saying when you book.
The trap. Under a kitchen sink or lavatory the U-shaped trap unscrews by hand on most Davao fittings; a bucket underneath and a look inside finds a surprising number of clogs. Do not do this on a toilet.
Boiling water — only on metal or PVC drains. For a greasy kitchen sink, a kettle of boiling water can soften a fresh grease clog. Not effective on hair, not safe on some older plastic traps, never on a toilet.
Plunger, correctly. Seal the overflow on a lavatory with a wet cloth, cover the drain fully, and use short sharp strokes. A toilet needs a flange plunger, not the flat cup kind.
Stop if there is sewage. Wastewater coming up a floor drain or a shower means a main-line or septic problem. Stop using water in that part of the house and call — running more water only floods the floor.

When the same drain keeps clogging
A drain that clogs every few months has a design problem, not a habit problem: a branch line laid flat or sloping the wrong way, a trap that is too small for a kitchen, no vent so the line airlocks, a crushed section under a driveway, or roots from the mango tree next door growing into an old clay pipe. Snaking it clear every time treats the symptom. On the second visit to the same drain we look for the cause — sometimes with a camera in the line — and quote the real fix: re-slope a section, add a cleanout, replace a run of pipe, or, for the septic side, siphoning and a look at the outlet.

We advise against it. It rarely clears hair or wipes, it damages PVC and rubber seals, and it makes the pipe dangerous for the person who opens it afterwards. If you have already used it, tell us so the technician can protect himself.
The toilet flushes slowly and gurgles — is that a clog?
Usually a partial blockage in the toilet trap or a venting problem in the line. If other fixtures gurgle at the same time, the main line is involved. Either way it is a one-visit fix in most cases; do not keep flushing to “push it through”.
Do you handle condo units?
