Water Heater Installation & Repair in Davao City

A shower heater is the one appliance where a bad installation is dangerous rather than just annoying. Plenty of Davao bathrooms have a 4,500-watt heater hanging on an ordinary lighting circuit with no ground and no earth-leakage breaker — which works fine until the day it does not. The heater itself costs a few thousand pesos; installing it the right way costs about the same again, and it is the part people skip. We do not skip it.
What a proper installation includes
Every heater we install gets the same four things, because each one prevents a specific accident:
A dedicated circuit. Its own breaker and correctly sized wire from the panel to the bathroom. A 3.5–6 kW heater on a shared circuit is why breakers trip mid-shower and why wiring overheats inside walls.
An earth-leakage breaker (ELCB / RCD / GFCI). Cuts the power in milliseconds if current leaks to water or to you. This is the single most important component and the one most often missing. If the heater has one built in, we test it; if not, we install one at the panel or the outlet.
Real grounding. The heater’s ground terminal connected to an actual grounding system — not to a screw in the wall. Many Davao homes have no grounding at all; our electricians add it.
Plumbing that does not leak into the electrics. Proper fittings, thread sealant, a shut-off valve, and a mounting height and routing that keep water away from the wiring. Tested under pressure before we leave.
Choosing a heater for Davao conditions
For most Davao bathrooms a single-point instant heater of 3.5–5.5 kW is the right choice: hot water on demand, nothing to store, and it only draws power while the shower runs. Choose the wattage to your water pressure — a high-flow shower on a low-wattage unit gives lukewarm water, which is the most common complaint we hear and is rarely the heater’s fault. Homes on booster pumps can run higher-flow heads; homes on gravity tanks should pick a heater rated for low pressure. Multipoint units make sense for a bathroom with a separate lavatory tap you want hot; tank heaters are for households that want a bath filled or several fixtures at once, and they cost more to run.
Brands sold in Davao — Panasonic, Ariston, Stiebel Eltron, Rinnai, American Home and others — are all serviceable locally; the difference in day-to-day reliability is mostly the installation. If you already have a heater and only the installation was done badly, that is usually a ₱3,000–₱7,000 fix to bring the circuit, ELCB and grounding up to standard, and it is the job we recommend most often.

My heater trips the breaker or gives only lukewarm water. Repair or replace?
Tripping is often a leaking element or a circuit that is too small — both fixable. Lukewarm water is usually flow or wattage, not a fault. A diagnosis visit tells you which; if the unit is past six to eight years and the element or board has failed, replacement is usually the better spend.
Is the ELCB really necessary if the heater has a built-in one?
Built-in protection is good and we test it. Protection at the panel or outlet adds a second, independent layer and also protects the wiring, which the heater’s own device cannot. We recommend both, and we never install without at least one working one.
Can you install in a condo?
