Who is allowed to do what — and why it changes the price

Where quotes get padded
The bigger breaker. Sold as a fix for tripping. It is not a repair, it is a fire risk. Read the tripping breaker guide before agreeing to one.
Wire by the roll. A job that needs 15 metres billed for a 75-metre roll. Ask for wire by the metre, brand and gauge named — undersized or off-brand wire is the other common substitution.
Grounding to nothing. Three-prong outlets installed with the ground terminal connected to nothing, or to a water pipe. A grounding system means a rod in the earth and a bonded conductor back to the panel.
No test, no label. A finished job should end with the circuit tested under load and the breaker labelled. If neither happened, the diagnosis probably did not either.
